Update (August 23): Connie Britton and her magnificent hair are returning to the American Horror Story universe. The Wrap issued a story confirming that the actress will film her scenes for the crossover season in late August. It appears that her scenes will take place at the Murder House and Dylan McDermott is expected to return as well.

This casting is shaping up to either be the biggest mess in AHS history or the best season of television to exist! For more casting updates, scroll away!

Update (August 7): And here come a few more! Ryan Murphy announced several returning stars on Twitter Tuesday morning: Taissa Farmiga, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Emma Roberts, and Stevie Nicks.

Update (August 3): At the TCA’s Sarah Paulson made the big reveal that fan favorite Jessica Lange would be returning to American Horror Story! She’ll be reprising her role as Constance from season 1. It’s not clear yet how big the role will be, but Lange will first appear in episode 6 of Apocalypse.

Update (July 20): The latest installment of American Horror Story will be titled Apocalypse. The poster seems to call back some of the imagery connected to Hotel while using the iconic Murder House red and black.

Demon children are old hat for the series at this point, but we’re curious to see how this particular key art is connected to the otherwise cryptic season ahead.

Original (June 14):Murphy has been on a roll at FX with American Crime Story, but the American Horror Story franchise has been in a bit of a slump. Luckily, the creator found a way to revive the series — combine the two seasons that, arguably, were the best.

“WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER,” Murphy said on Twitter:

That’s right, you will not have to wait long to see Murphy all-star cast reunite on screen. But who will return? And in what way? Will we finally meet junglejim4322@yahoo.com?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Adina Porter, Leslie Grossman and newcomer Joan Collins are all on board. Notably, Paulson and Peters will direct episodes of the new season.

As Jessica Lange says every AHS casting season, “If the role speaks to me, I will return.” Or something along those lines. Whatever her exact words may be, will the sentiment hold up now that two of her past roles may once again become fair game?

And what about Evan Peters’ Murder House character, Tate? With school shootings making headlines almost once a week, it’s not exactly the best time to bring a undead school shooter back into the spotlight.

We already have some ideas about how the Murder House, Coven crossover can work.

The news of Murphy’s deal with Netflix felt like a nail in the coffin on this project, especially since it’s been almost two years since the initial buzz about it. But just like the characters in AHS never doubt their return, even if they’re six feet under.

The crossover event will debut September 12, 2018 on FX.
