A day after announcing the Wii U sold over 400,000 units in its first week, Nintendo has revealed a mini version of their previous console for a budget price.
The Wii Mini was officially revealed by the publisher earlier today. The smaller console will be exclusive to Canada, at least through the holiday season, and will be priced at $99.99.
“No information is available about its potential availability in other territories in the future,” reads the press release.
The system is re-designed as a compact, flat-resting system and comes in matte black with a red border.
Wii Mini can play over 1,300 Wii games but does not include access to the internet and isn’t compatible with GameCube discs.
The smaller console will come packaged with a red Nunchuk, a red Wiimote Plus controller, a sensor bar, power adapter and standard composite cable.
Wii Mini will be available in Canada starting December 7.
Nintendo sold over 600,000 original Wii consoles as part of their 1.2 million in hardware sales in the past week due to holiday sales.
The company launched their latest console, the Wii U, just over a week ago on November 18 in North America and will roll out the hardware November 30 in Europe and December 8 in Japan.
