Previously…
Sheriff Pope continued to railroad Ethan’s efforts to discover the truth about the death of Secret Service agent Bill Evans. Via Kate, however, Ethan learned that there are important rules in Wayward Pines, including to never speak about the past and to always answer the phone if it rings. She also sent him to Evans’ wife of a year, who even had a newborn.
Beverly informed Ethan that she and Evans were planning to run away together, but he was captured and had his throat slit by Sheriff Pope. Ethan and Beverly decided to run away together but were waylaid by Kate and Harold, who invited them to dinner. Ethan worked the dinner into their escape plan, but Beverly’s nerves tipped them off. Kate and Harold reported the escape attempt, and the town formed a mob to capture Beverly.
Ethan fled to his motel room and beat an attacker — just in time to see Beverly have her throat cut by Sheriff Pope in front of the town.
