Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 gives us walkers on a plane, but where else would we like to see a walker attack?
This week Fear the Walking Dead premiered the first part of its one-off special titled Flight 462. In this special, passengers on a plane will be confronted with an infected on board, and one of these characters will make an appearance in the next season of Fear.
This one episode special is such a great idea, it’s surprising it’s taken so long for them to do it. If successful, perhaps they’ll do more! If that’s the case, here are some ideas we’d like to see.

Public School
When there’s any kind of threat in a school or in the surrounding area, schools go into lockdown mode. Now picture an elementary school in lockdown. Hallways are completely empty and all the kids and staff are in their respective classrooms. When you peer through the door window you see it. A lone child shambling down the hallway making weird gurgling noises. There’s a small body in the hall behind it, unmoving and bloody.
Of course, nobody can leave and odds are more people have been attacked before the lockdown started, so now there’s a situation of however many walker kids and adults roaming the school while everyone has to hide. Trying to escape is risky with so many students but naturally someone will try and it will end badly. Any public school would do, even a high school, it’s just creepier with walker children.
Cruise Ship
Imagine the chaos that would erupt on a walker infested boat. Far from land with no where to go, packed with all kinds of vacationing people, it probably wouldn’t take long for the boat’s population to all die.
It would create new meanings to ‘cruise buffet’ and ‘seasickness.’ What you thought was just nauseousness from being on a boat is actually you turning into a flesh eating corpse. Your child isn’t sensitive to the rocking of the waves. He’s dying and coming back to eat you! You just know there would be at least one crazy person who would want everyone with a slight illness thrown off the boat.
We’d also probably see some water-walkers. Can they swim? Do they ‘die’ if under water too long? Do they float? Do they sink and walk along the bottom? So many questions!
Subway
All the transportation!
This one almost feels too obvious, but that’s exactly why it’s great. It’s a confined space underground, and subways stop all the time even at the best of times. It’s the perfect setting for a one-off episode. The best time would be if it took place during rush hour. The subway cars would be so packed with people that trying to run would be impossible. The walkers would have an easy time catching their food. To add even more drama, cut the lights. You’d almost expect there to be no survivors.
Theme Park Haunted House
Two may go in, but do two come out? Enter if you dare!
Look twice, because those zombies jumping out at you may in fact be real. Just picture it: Some teens at an amusement park, just having a good time, line up for the haunted house. Screams can be heard from outside, both fake and real. It’s nothing unusual. There’s always someone who gets scared more audibly than the others. The teens eagerly and nervously await their turn to wander the haunted house.
Finally it’s time. They go in. The plastic skeletons fall from the ceiling, the mummies pop from hidden crevices in the walls, and the strange hacking noise behind them gets louder. They turn around and jump at the sight of an undead corpse. They laugh at their foolishness and keep going. But the corpse doesn’t stop coming…
The tension and frights would be so easy to do. The fear factor is already there since it’s a haunted house, and then there’s the added bonus of ‘real’ walkers wandering around. How long until people realize the danger inside? And how long until the danger spreads to the rest of the park? It would be chaos!
Prison
Hundreds of people locked up with nowhere to go when trouble strikes? How can that not be an awesome episode? You either die locked in your cell from starvation and dehydration, or getting out and being eaten by a walker. There’s the possibility of an outbreak during meal time though, when everyone is out and about, and thus a viable victim. Wouldn’t it be funny to see inmates scrambling to get back in their cells?
Take it a step further. It wouldn’t be just any prison. How about a short story showing how the prison in season 3 fell apart before the group arrived? It’d be great to see some of the surviving inmates again (if briefly), and what exactly happened the day the ‘riots’ broke out.
