Now that we have the Captain America: Civil War trailer, we can pretty much work out the whole plot, right? At least some brave Tumblr fans are giving it a go!
Civil War sees Captain America (Chris Evans) face down former ally and friend Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), when the two pick opposite sides in the titular “civil war.”
Tuesday night, we finally got the trailer for Civil War, and it was all about Steve Rogers’ friendship with his old pal, his buddy, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). Bucky didn’t die in The First Avenger, but instead was turned into Hydra’s super soldier weapon, coming back in The Winter Soldier with no memory of Steve, his past life, or even his own name.
See just how vital he appears to be to the central plot of Civil War:
From the trailer it appears that Steve and his friends will stand against Tony Stark, Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) and what’s left of S.H.I.E.L.D. to protect Bucky from having to answer for the crimes of the Winter Soldier.
In the comics, the Avengers-splitting Civil War is started because of the controversial Superhuman Registration act. In next year’s Captain America movie, it seems to be started because of… Bucky Barnes?
…Yeah, sounds about right.
And here’s what else we “know,” at least if the Tumblr fans’ interpretations are anything to go by… (Beware of language. Tumblr swears a lot.)
It’s a love story
Platonic or not, Steve Rogers’ friendships with Bucky Barnes and Tony Stark seem to be the focus of this movie. The fandom has spoken: It’s a love triangle.
After all, ‘Cap 3’ is just following the pattern
This is (probably) a pretty good summary of ‘Civil War’
And this is totally what happened behind the scenes:
Fans have also got the ending figured out
Well. It’ll either end in heartbreak and tragedy…
Or maybe the Russos are merciful! Hey, it could happen.
…Right?
THIS IS PRETTY HARD TO UNSEE THOUGH:
But wait! What about the actual Civil War?
As excitable as fans are (and should be), let’s not forget:
There’s still a lot to be excited about, which we’ve barely even glimpsed:
We love all of the excitement — this is what fandom is for! Still, we can’t wait until May 6, 2016, to see the actual movie!
