Timeless hops back in time each week as Team Time tries to stop whatever Garcia Flynn (Goran Visnjic) is up to next. Now fans can see what Team Time does using virtual reality.

In Monday’s episode, Team Time (Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett) went back to 1969 to try to save the historic Apollo 11 moon launch. As part of the episode, fans were able to see the recreation of Houston Mission Control via their TV screens. Now, thanks to virtual reality and a partnership with Jaunt VR, fans get to see a whole lot more.

You don’t need any kind of high-tech equipment. All you need is a smart phone or a tablet. With a free download, the Jaunt VR app available on iOS, Android, Gear VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive makes it all possible.

The Timeless experience is called Continuum Recon. It is a 360 virtual reality experience that takes you on a journey through time to witness history as it happens, live.

You begin your journey in a seat in the Lifeboat. Connor Mason (Paterson Joseph) gives you a mission — execute a high tech “Probability Scan” to ensure that a key moment in history remains undisturbed. You are then blasted back to July 20, 1969 at NASA Mission Control in Houston.

With special “ghost mode” technology you remain invisible to the Flight Controllers as you “Protect The Past. Save The Future,” while literally exploring every inch of Mission Control from the ceiling to the floor tiles.

The video below gives you a basic idea of how the app launches you into the experience, but honestly, it doesn’t do the app experience justice. You definitely want to take advantage of the free download, and see what we mean.

Showrunners Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan are banking on fans getting into this experience. They stated, “Now, the audience can actually travel in the Lifeboat time machine and visit a historical period, and we thought the ‘Space Race’ episode was the perfect opportunity. People can look around, and explore details that we just can’t put into the show. With this incredible technology, it’s like you’re really at Mission Control on the day of the Moon Landing. We think fans of the show will love it.”

If you haven’t experienced Timeless yet, pulling rainy day, holiday marathon is a great idea. The series airs on NBC Monday nights at 10:00pm.

Have you tried the ‘Timeless’ virtual reality experience?
