True love is a central theme on ABC’s Galavant. So we decided to break down Galavant’s best and worst qualities… when it comes to being a boyfriend!
ABC’s medieval musical comedy has been all sorts of unapologetic fun so far — from its musical numbers, ridiculous jokes, and often hilarious guest spots (we’re still not over Hugh Bonneville, the Pirate King.) So, we decided to have a little bit of fun of our own, by figuring out exactly what Galavant has going both for and against his favor when it comes to love.
Would the flaws on this list be enough to sway you away from Galavant, and take up the offer of fame and riches that King Richard offered? Or would you stand true by his side despite them? So, without further ado…
Frogs and Snails and Puppy-dogs’ Tails
He’s a little egotistical
Sure, he may have found himself taken down a peg or two when Madalena choose King Richard over him, but Galavant’s ego is still a little inflated. Having Isabella and Sid around to humble him from time to time helps, but his ego can get away from him sometimes.
He’s kinda rude
A well placed sarcastic quip or two is a quality we can appreciate — but not so much when it crosses the line into being downright rude. Galavant doesn’t always manage to toe that line.
He’s still not over his ex
Galavant’s heart is pretty devoted to his true love, Madalena — so much so that he fell into severe depression after she married another man. He’s still holding that torch for her, and not everyone wants to compete against a love that strong.
Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice
He’d do anything to save you
There’s something comforting about the fact that someone would travel to the ends of the earth for you — even if you don’t need rescuing. It’s really the thought that counts. And, hey. At least you’d have a ride home, right?
He’s steadfastly loyal
When times are tough, Galavant is the kind of person who will stand by you. Even if you snore at night. Because while he may be perfectly able to scrape by on his own, you’re definitely better together.
He’s not too hard on the eyes…
What can we say? We’re only human. We’re just going to stop here for a little while. You go on without us.
Galavant airs back-to-back episodes on Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
