Jason Rothenberg, creator and showrunner extraordinaire of The 100, tweeted our first look at season 3 earlier today, and Clarke has a new ‘do.
When The 100 season 2 ended, Clarke had kissed Bellamy on the cheek and walked away as the words, “May we meet again,” were uttered by both of them as a promise for the future. Clarke was beaten down both physically and emotionally by the battles she had just fought and won for her people, so it’s no surprise that season 3 has her sporting a new look.
Jason Rothenberg was generous enough to share that new look with his Twitter followers this afternoon, and it shows Clarke’s warrior spirit in more ways than one.

Here’s another, larger version of Clarke’s look so you can grasp it in all its wonder.
It shows that Clarke is not only taking some time away from the Arkers, but seems to be adopting more of the Grounder way of life while on her little walkabout. She has embraced the way they use braids and her makeup is similar to the way we saw Lexa and Anya dramatically emphasize their eyes.
This new look has led many fans to wonder if this could somehow be related to Lexa’s early return to the series? Alycia Debnam-Carey reported to set on August 11, and has commented that Lexa will be appearing very early in season 3. Things were definitely left unresolved between her and Clarke, and we are all anxious to see how Clarke relates to Lexa now that she has had to make sacrifices for her people the same way Lexa did.
The 100 season 3 premieres in 2016 and will consist of 16 episodes chock full of Grounder/Arker relations, painful complications, new characters, and, as we recently learned, a pregnancy. Never a dull moment on the ground, that’s for sure.
