The more we learn about Teen Wolf season 3, the more we can’t wait until it airs in June! Check out the latest Executive Producer Jeff Davis had to say about what we can expect.
Entertainment Tonight got a chance to talk to Davis, who spilled some interesting pieces of information about the upcoming season. Some of it has already been established or hinted at, like the fact that Scott plans on becoming a better person or that Danny and one of the Alpha Pack twins will have some sort of relationship.
However, Davis also talks about why he chose the four month jump into season 3, how this season will have some very dark moments, and how we’ll actually be getting a second flashback episode.
On the four month jump…
Davis says the four month gap between seasons 2 and 3 was not just to make Jackson’s transition out of Beacon Hills easier. “It’s a bit of a reset button,” he says. “I don’t want to write the scenes where they’re all struggling to get over the drama, I want to pick back up during the fun.”
We won’t argue with that! The last few episodes of season 2 were pretty intense, especially for the character normally known as the comic relief, Stiles. It’ll be nice to get back to those lighter moments.
On getting back to the horror…
But don’t expect season 3 to just focus on the comedy. ET promises that the characters are going to make some pretty dark choices. Teen Wolf is, after all, rooted in those elements of horror. In fact, the show will be paying homage to The Shining in episode 6, “Motel California.”
It sounds like this is going to be a pivotal episode. “We push the characters to the brink in that episode,” he says. “It also deals with the characters coming to very difficult decisions about themselves and their future. What’s interesting is that while it’s much darker, it’s also one of our funniest episodes. We still are able to find the funny in a lot of this drama.”
One of the best things about Teen Wolf is how it toes that line between its comedy and horror. The show is loved for its one-liners, but also for its solid writing and dramatic storylines.
On having another flashback episode…
More information has been coming in regarding the highly anticipated flashback episode, including the fact that we won’t be seeing Derek’s father, but there’s also word that we’ll be getting another flashback episode this season.
This one won’t be quite like 3×08, which will mostly be about Derek’s past, with very little current plots. Davis says, “Episode 5 is also a flashback episode – but not in the sense that it flashes back to younger characters, it’s more like Pulp Fiction in the way we bounce around in time. It’s one of our most ambitious episodes ever!”
