A new report has surfaced which reveals that Batman may show up in Suicide Squad for the Joker’s storyline in Warner Bros.’ supervillain team-up.
After finding out that Tom Hardy has dropped out of Suicide Squad for unknown reasons, we’re now hearing that Ben Affleck will appear as Batman in the film in an attempt to link the Joker and Batman for a solo Batman film that’s yet to be scheduled.
The Forbes report says, “The film will take some inspiration from Frank Miller’s comic book series The Dark Knight Returns — the third issue of which is a story about Batman facing off against an escaped Joker. I’m also told that Gotham City Police Commissioner Ellen Yindel (who replaces James Gordon during the comic book story) is planned for inclusion in the film.”
This new report links up with a previous one which stated that the Joker will escape from prison near the end of Suicide Squad. Despite the fact that Warner Bros. have revealed their superhero schedule, it wouldn’t surprise us if Batman was given a solo film with the Joker considering his popularity as a villain stemming from Heath Ledger’s performance in The Dark Knight.

Jared Leto is starring as the Joker in Suicide Squad, and not only is he an Oscar winner, he’s an incredibly popular actor right now. WB are going to want to get as much out of him as they can, and by putting Ben Affleck’s Batman in Suicide Squad, they’re doubling up the potential star power.
Suicide Squad is already stuffed full of acting talent, although it lost a bit when Hardy left the film, but it will still feature Will Smith and Margot Robbie alongside Leto. If Ben Affleck were to make a cameo as Batman, it’s almost guaranteed to grab a much larger audience.
They’re just rumors for now, but it makes a lot of sense to include Batman in some capacity in Suicide squad, considering it’s not a guaranteed success for the studio. It would be great to see Batman going after the Joker in some security footage at the end of Suicide Squad.
Let us know what you think about Batman having at least a cameo in Suicide Squad, and if you’d be interested in seeing Ben Affleck and Jared Leto facing off in a film of their own.
