MTV released a new trailer for their upcoming drama The Shannara Chronicles and revealed the show’s premiere date at NYCC on Saturday.
Cast members Poppy Drayton, Austin Butler, John Rhys Davies and Manu Bennett gathered with executive producers Terry Brooks, Al Gough, Miles Millar and Jonathan Liebesman to conduct a panel at New York Comic-Con.

A quick summary of the magical quest: Our heroin Amberle (Poppy Drayton) must protect the Four Lands against the Demon World. As the magical tree, known as the Ellcrys, is dying — so too is its protection against darker forces. Human Eretria (Ivana Baquero), and half human/half elf Wil (Austin Butler) team up to protect their world against invasion.
“The Ellcrys is dying,” Allanon (Manu Bennett) says prophetically. “Each leaf represents a single demon. Once they begin to fall the craters of darkness will be released one-by-one.”
