Sam Smith is singing the title song for the latest James Bond movie Spectre, and you can get a teaser for the song right here.
Adele is a tough act to follow, and we don’t think anyone is expecting the theme song for this autumn’s James Bond movie Spectre to match that of Skyfall.
And yet, this snippet of Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On the Wall” is pretty damn enticing:

The 15-second preview seems to be the very beginning of the song. It invokes both the classic James Bond theme music, and an epic opening of a classic Hollywood drama.
It seems Smith is not straying too far from Adele’s style, and yet if this preview is anything to go by, “Writing’s On the Wall” will be slower, more sombre, and sinister — in line with the creepy poster recently released for the movie:
Indeed, the classic Hollywood vibe is pretty fitting, as Spectre is set to reveal James Bond’s origin story, according to director Sam Mendes.
“The Bond creation myth never happened,” Mendes told EW. “I felt there was an opportunity there: What made him? And who were the people who affected him along the way? You’re sort of telling the story backwards of how Bond became Bond.”
And Bond’s origin story is evidently tied to SPECTRE, the organization first introduced in the 1962 Bond film Dr. No. In the new movie we’ll meet Blofeld, a major Bond villain who’s always been shrouded in misery — is 007 literally going to meet his maker?
Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On the Wall” will be released Friday, September 25. James Bond: Spectre hits theaters on October 26 in the U.K., and on November 6 in the U.S.
