Revenge season 4, episode 17, “Loss,” just aired! Read our recap to find out what happened with our favorite South Hampton residents.
Revenge starts off with Emily babysitting Carl while Jack is in jail. David stops by and tries to give a bit of advice. He stays to watch Carl while Emily attends the bail hearing.
Jack is being walked out by his former coworker and is told that his blood test was “lost.” He’s then told that he has an attorney — his mother Stevie Grayson. She tells him that Emily called her in and told her most of what’s going on, including that she’s Amanda.
Victoria meets with Margaux for the ultrasound to see her unborn child. If we didn’t despise Margaux at the moment it would be a very touching scene. They also discuss donating money to the hospital as part of Daniel’s foundation to get his name on a wing of the hospital.
At the bail hearing Jack is sent home because it’s his first offense, but he’s getting sent with a social worker to look into his parental competence. Emily confronts Margaux in the court house and Margaux blames everything on Emily.
Ben stops by Nolan’s house to tell Louise that her brother’s body was found on the beach. Sehe acts shocked, and during Ben’s questioning she comes up with a tale about how drunk he was and she sent him to bed and that was the last she saw of him.
Victoria meets with one of the board members and he tells her that due to one vote the funding was turned down. She asks who it was and he says it’s anonymous. He shows her a list and of course Emily Thorne is one of those names.
The dream team, Emily, Nolan, Jack and Stevie, are discussing the case and Jack says that a drink of his must have been spiked. Nolan pulls up video footage of the Beach Club and there is Margaux’s guy obviously spiking his orange juice. It’s a bad camera angle so they must do some more digging on him.
Emily breaks into Margaux’s guy’s place and doesn’t realize he’s there. A fight ensues. Once she has her gun on him he throws up Jack’s blood sample proving he wasn’t drinking and when she looks up to catch it he escapes. Sneaky, sneaky…
The social worker does a walk-through of Jack’s apartment and he questions Jack’s drinking and the fact that he’s a bartender and has Carl’s daycare at the same location. He tells Carl that he has concerns and will be in touch.
The next morning Emily meets with Ben and gives him Jack’s real blood sample. She tells him that if he doesn’t somehow hide it in the lab as if it was misplaced they’ll take Carl away from Jack. Ben is weary because he plans to be a detective soon.
Margaux’s guy James (we learned after a quick IMDB check) tells her that he had to give Emily the blood sample. Margaux shows him a newspaper with Lyman’s story on it. They assume Emily took him out. Margaux says that Victoria warned her of Emily’s ways and she gives James a check for his services.
James tells her that he’s loyal to the LeMarchal name and the entire reason they’re doing this is to clear the name for the LeMarchal heir. He gives her back the check and says they need to take “that step to end this.”
Victoria meets at Emily’s and asks if Emily was the one who voted down for the hospital vote. Emily is appalled because they made a truce and says she was all in favor of it, especially because Daniel died for her. She tells Victoria of Margaux’s plans to take Jack’s family apart and asks if she can speak to Margaux for her.
When Victoria meets with Margaux later on she realizes that it was Margaux that changed her mind about it. She wants to keep her pregnancy secret and doesn’t want it to be known that its father is a “monster.”
Tony Hughes, Jack’s social worker, finds Nolan at the Beach Club. He tells him that his daycare facility isn’t licensed and this is no place for a child. Nolan spits out that Jack is a great father and he wished he had a father as caring and devoted as Jack Porter.
There is a great back and forth moment that they share and we plan on submitting it for Hypable’s weekly quote of the week segment.
There is a hearing for Jack and the arresting officer, Officer Schaffer, is on the stand. During Stevie’s questioning she gets a bit hostile regarding using the just-found blood sample of Jack’s and she gets held in contempt of court.
David shows up and posts Stevie’s bail. He says she tried to help him back in the day so that’s all he can do to help. She tells him not to give up trying to be a father to Emily, no matter how much she pushes him away.
Stevie meets with the dream team again and says she’s never been held in contempt before so the judge has to be in Margaux’s pocket. They look her up and her reelection has been endorsed by all of LeMarchal’s publications.
The judge is at the beach house and is gifted with a bottle of wine. She declines and instead drinks her water. Officer Ben Hunter pulls her over after a call for a swerving driver. He gives her a breathalyzer test and she blows a .15. She says it’s ridiculous and then gets a call from the courthouse.
It’s Lady Justice on the phone, aka Emily, and she says there was acetone in her water, which can elevate any breathalyzer test. She asks the judge to use Jack’s blood as admissible evidence and test it. If it has acetone in it then to drop all charges or it will be known that she took bribes from all of LeMarchal publications.
Stevie gets a call and all charges have been dropped! Thank goodness for baby Carl! Stevie wants to take everyone out for lunch but Emily has unfinished business. David tries again to talk some sense into her but it doesn’t work.
Back at Nolan’s, Louise finally comes clean about what happened to Lyman. It’s a relief because it shows she truly loves Nolan in a platonic way, we think? Nolan gets called to the Beach Club because Tony the social worker is there for him.
It seems David’s words did something because Emily goes to Margaux to make a truce. Emily hands Margaux her real birth certificate and says it’s in her hands what she decides to do with it. She could use it for good or for revenge. Margaux says as long as Daniel’s name isn’t cleared that it is pointless.
And just as she hails a cab it horrifically strikes her down. Victoria is at the hospital and Emily tries to explain it was an accident. She doesn’t believe her because…well, for obvious reasons.
Nolan meets with “Just Tony” at the Beach Club. He wanted to apologize to Nolan and then starts to flirt but then notices Nolan’s wedding ring! Nooo! Nolan says it’s a “long story” and it’s “not what it looks like.” Yeah, no one ever says that.
Victoria comforts Margaux and is told that the baby is gone, “Daniel is gone.” Emily goes to David as she needs no one but her father at the moment.
Victoria asks Margaux why Emily was with her and she says that Emily cornered her and said she wants peace, and then pushed her into the oncoming traffic!
What. The. Hell.
