The NATs are under attack on Quantico, and we can’t wait to see who steps up and saves the day. Will we finally have a suspect after watching Quantico season 1, episode 15, “Turn”?
The preview for tonight’s episode prepared us for the attack at Quantico. What we weren’t prepared for was the shocking truths that would definitely overshadow the gunfire. Check out our review of Quantico season 1, episode 15, “Turn,” and see all the ways this episode was more about unveiling the truth than creating more suspects.
Present Day
Alex Parrish
Alex is given another assignment by the terror cell that has been manipulating her. This time she’s supposed to switch some pills in Senator Haas’ (Caleb’s mother) purse with a different bottle. Alex and Simon go through the motions of testing the pills and trying to figure out what the terrorist hopes to accomplish with the switcheroo, but have zero luck. Alex tries to do the swap, but Hannah stops her at every turn. Eventually Alex just hands the damn bottle over to Hannah and explains the situation. Hannah smiles with mirth at her good fortune. She asks Alex for her badge and gun and tells her to expect to be wearing handcuffs again soon.
At least some good comes from this “assignment.” Alex gains herself a powerful ally, and someone outside of her group from Quantico that could prove very valuable in the episodes ahead.
Simon Asher
Simon basically plays the good man in the storm this episode. He stands dutifully by Alex’s side, but doesn’t have a whole lot to do. He is trying to decode the voice changer that the terrorist is using, but is having very little luck unraveling the incredibly complicated mystery. We find it hard to suspect him of anything after everything he’s been through, but if he does end up on the other side of this, he should get an Oscar for his acting. We believe he’s on the right side this time.
Hannah Wyland
She’s been nothing but a thorn in Alex’s side since the day they met, and while that isn’t exactly changing, by the end of “Turn” Hannah at least believes that Alex isn’t lying. This is major progress for them. We also learned that Natalie’s email asking for “leave” didn’t originate from her registered IP address, but was sent from an untraceable relay. Either Natalie really is dead, or she’s the mastermind behind everything, we’re just not sure which one yet.
Back to the good old days at Quantico
Drew Perales
If you recall, Liam threw Drew out at the end of last week’s episode. Well, it turns out that Perales isn’t officially expelled from the program until Miranda signs off on it. Since she basically tried to fire Liam last episode, we were hoping that could mean a second chance for Perales. Drew does get a second chance, but he does it all on his own. During the shootout that lasted all of 10 minutes or so, he saves Liam’s life by following him and using his own personal firearm to put a bullet between the eyes of one of the terrorist intruders.
We couldn’t be happier that Perales is sticking around. He’s been a breath of fresh air in the Quantico storyline, and could turn out to be a valuable ally for Alex at some point in the future. **crosses fingers**
Shelby Wyatt
Shelby gave us one of the episode’s shocking truths: Her parents are still alive. WHAT?! We know, we know. This was a bit difficult for us to swallow too. We don’t know anything surrounding the circumstances of their faking their deaths, so no reasons why or where they’ve been or anything, but this news rocks Shelby’s whole world.
Caleb discovered this when he met up with Shelby’s fake half-sister and was given an envelope with a picture of the happy couple inside it.
Shelby goes instantly cold over the news, and who can blame her. Her parents’ deaths have had a profound impact on her life in more ways than one, and she’s just now finding out that they’ve been manipulating her the whole time. The question here is: Why?
Reyna Amin
While everyone else at Quantico was in lockdown because of the threat at the compound, Reyna was delivering Charlie to Miranda. Minutes after the gunmen took out every guard at the entrance, she arrives to see the carnage. Charlie admits to being an accomplice and telling them information about Quantico’s security and layout. He also said that they threatened him, and he ran for his own safety after that.
Fast forward a few hours and Miranda meets Charlie and Reyna at her home. She is ready to take Charlie in for questioning and a lone surviving gunman steps out of the shadows. Reyna chooses not to leave, hoping to give the gunman a familiar face to confuse him no doubt, and the three listen as he talks about being a Muslim “true believer.” Reyna calls him on his crap, but when the gunman threatens her, Charlie steps in to be the target.
Words are exchanged, threats leveled, and Charlie is supposed to kill his mother to save himself. Instead, he shoots the gunman in the stomach and waves his gun around willy nilly. Miranda begs him to hand over the gun, but he’s too worried about the repercussions of his actions. He gets shot in the chest by an FBI sniper and is rushed to surgery. We don’t learn his ultimate fate before the episode fades to black.
Least trustworthy NATs based on events of this episode
- Caleb Haas: He may have been meeting with Samar for the right reasons, but he still has an alter-ego named Mark Raymond that Will uncovered. We aren’t entirely sure what he is up to, and he’s been suspiciously missing in the present day since the explosion killed multiple people at FBI’s temporary headquarters.
- Will Olsen: We know everything about his skills, and nothing about him personally. He is already an expert at reading people and pays attention to detail, not to mention those pictures in his sock drawer. What the heck are those about?
- Natalie Vasquez: She may be absent from the Quantico storyline and “dead” in the present day, but we can’t shake the feeling that she somehow escaped the blast and has been behind all of this from the start. It’s too easy to count her among the dead while her death still remains a secret to all but Alex, Simon, Hannah, and the terrorist.
