Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy will be bringing his guitar to Parks and Recreation season 6 later this spring.
According to EW, Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy will be guest starring in an upcoming season 6 Parks and Recreation episode as a Pawnee-famous musician.
Tweedy’s as-of-now unnamed rock star will have to be convinced to get his old band, Land Ho!, back together.
Apparently the exclamation point was Tweedy’s idea.
“Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Andy (Chris Pratt) are trying to convince him to reunite for the big Unity Concert they are organizing to solidify the merger of Pawnee and Eagleton,” Michael Schur told Entertainment Weekly.
Tweedy’s character, as is fitting for an Indiana regionally well-known rock God, will be less than enthused about the band’s reunion since they departed on less than good terms.
It’s also fitting that Parks and Rec appears to be getting back to the Pawnee and Eagleton merger that began the season. Tweedy is the second announced guest character regarding the Pawnee-Eagleton merger after John Hodgman’s smug Eagleton radio host.
The Pawnee-Eagleton merger was an important plot point from earlier in season 6 where stars like Kristen Bell, Billy Eichner and Sam Elliott played Pawnee characters’ doppelgängers. But it was largely pushed aside for Leslie’s recall vote and Ann and Chris’ departure.
