Following the hit-or-miss performance of Neil Patrick Harris, the 2016 Oscars will apparently have two hosts.
The Academy Awards may be prestigious and all, but damn is it hard to find a good host for the show itself.
In 2014, Ellen DeGeneres surprised the world by actually being great, playing down the importance of the event with silly gags like ordering pizza for the audience, and taking Internet-breaking selfies.
Earlier this year, however, Neil Patrick Harris proved that even someone with previous (and great) hosting experience can flub when it comes to Hollywood’s fanciest party.

So what is the Academy going to do in 2016? Double up, for the third time in recent history. The odds of success are literally 50/50.
Entertainment Weekly has spoken to Oscars producer David Miller, who revealed, “There will be multiple hosts for sure – there will be two.”
Clearly having blocked the Hathaway/Franco catastrophe of 2011 out of his mind, Miller explained, “Two is better than one. Just imagine, you’re in there. One of your hosts drops dead from cardiac arrest. What do you do? Second host goes on! And you keep going. … Note to self. Check out their heart rates.”
(With that comedic talent, maybe Miller himself should host the show eh?)
Interestingly, the article also hints that the Academy already has a hosting team in mind. Immediately, our expectations are sky high: did they somehow convince Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to take a stab at it?!
EW also suggests Key & Peele‘s Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, whose Comedy Central show counts President Obama among its fans.
Of course they could always bring back Franco and Hathaway… or the 2010 duo Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, who actually pulled off a great show.
