Over the weekend rumors from shady websites revealed that One Direction is planning a break up. Today, band member Niall Horan is addressing the claims.
Niall took to his Twitter Monday afternoon to reveal that the One Direction break up rumors aren’t entirely accurate. Yes, they’ll be taking a break… but it won’t be permanent.
“We will be taking a well earned break at some point next year,” he wrote on Twitter. “Don’t worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve!”
You can see his four tweets below:

The future of One Direction has been unclear since founding member Zayn Malik left the group in March. As things stand now, it looks like the band will be taking their break after the fifth studio album is released sometime in the next year. At this time we don’t know if the boys will be touring behind their next album, but they are on tour right now.
Niall’s tweets certainly sound promising for the future of the band, though who knows what the boys will be thinking once they spend some time off and separated from one another.
One Direction released a new single titled “Drag Me Down” earlier this month. Late last week they released the song’s accompanying music video, which finds the five four boys at NASA:
What do you think the future holds for One Direction?
Do you believe One Direction when they say they’ll return after taking a break? Or are they about to go the same way as ‘N Sync, the Backstreet Boys, and so many other wonderful boy bands? A report last year found that the average ’90s boy band lasted 6.8 years, which’ll be roughly One Direction’s age right before their break (they launched in 2010).
