Everyone is moving up and moving on as Looking season 2 comes to a close.
Patrick and Kevin are making their own Field of Dreams movie on tonight’s Looking season 2 finale. But is Kevin Costner the only Kevin making things a bit awkward in their new shared living space? Unpacking and mixing his and his boxes is only part of moving in together. Meeting the neighbors is the second.
Kevin accepts a friendly invitation from the boys down on floor 5 for a Christmas drink.
Dom drops in for some permits at City Hall and calls up Malik for chat. He cuts right to the chase, Doris misses Dom and she is cleaning his apartment instead of picking up the phone. Not just light dusting, Doris is seriously cleaning. Fork and knife drawer organizer level of seriousness. Malik insists that Dom come around, take her for a walk, hash things out. While Dom is thrilled to hear Malik wants him in Doris’ life, he is even happier to know that Malik is head over heels about his best friend.
At the Christmas shindig on level 5, Patrick and Kevin soon discover that the flirtatious nature of the crowd may be more than a welcoming face to the neighborhood. Patrick makes an abrupt rush for the door after finding Kevin is on Grindr. Completely innocent until proven guilty, Kevin swears he was only using the app to scope out juice on the buildings other tenants. Just like the party vibe though, it is what you do with it that matters.
Patrick tries to let it go, but the seeds of discontent are sown. A fact that leads Agustîn to assume he will not need to search for a roommate for too long. Patrick continues his non-interrogation and discovers that aside from Kevin not knowing that Patrick hates peanut butter, he also has a few hookups while he was still with Jon.
This leads them to have another very loud, very angry, very emotional argument about the future of their relationship. It boils down to this: Kevin wants to live in a glass house. Everything that he does cannot be hidden. Whether he cheats on Patrick, or Patrick cheats on him, he wants to come home every night and know everything that went on. Patrick sees this as a person asking for a hall pass in their back pocket for when things get rough. If he is not going to be enough, why are they jumping into this in the first place. As they argue, they move from their apartment filled with glass to the subbasement that echoes back all of their concerns and fears trapping them until there is an answer. Are they fighting for their future or are they fighting to put an end to it all?
Meanwhile, Dom and Doris take in the view and air their own grievances. Polite conversation about Malik gets them there, but once they plateau, their relationship is the focus. While going through the playback of what went down in their apartment a few weeks ago, they realize that Doris was right. They cannot go back to the status quo. Dom is going to step up and take on this venture with Doris’ faith rather than her money.
Dom heads back to his window alone to bask in the light of his neon sign.
Kevin begs Patrick to take the time to learn to trust him. Their relationship does not end on the balcony and they head to their very different sleep number settings hoping that one day they can adjust to closer numbers. Facing one Kevin was not enough for the night as Patrick stares down Costner before digging into his box of valuables to dig out Richie’s necklace.
Instead of talking about Kevin, Patrick takes a trip down memory lane in hopes of gaining a fresh start under the care of someone familiar. Richie takes a buzzer and begins to cut off Patrick’s hair without a word.
