Earlier this week Julie Kagawa announced the sale of her newest book series. The untitled series has now been optioned by Universal.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Morgan, the writer of the Fast and Furious franchise, is set to produce. A strong 104-page presentation was made and the deal was completed on Thursday. This is the first of Kagawa’s novels to be optioned.
The new series was recently picked up by Harlequin TEEN in a seven-figure, five-book deal. The first book is to be released in 2015.
The supernatural story is set in a present-day coastal town where mythical creatures hide among us cloaked as humans. Slayers, belonging to an order that dates back to St. George, infiltrate the town disguised as out-of-town kids, setting up a confrontation and, as is the case with YA books, a love triangle.
Julie Kagawa is a New York Times Bestselling author and resides in Kentucky. Her first novel, The Iron King, was released on 2010. The Iron Fey series ended in November 2012 with The Lost Prince. Kagawa released the first book in her new series, The Immortal Rules, in May 2012.
Are you excited about this new series from Kagawa? Which other book of Kagawa’s would you like to see optioned?
