Marvel announced a familiar showrunner for their newest television series, The Inhumans.
Iron First showrunner Scott Buck will take the helm for the recently announced series, Marvel says. Buck will also serve as an executive producer on the project. He is best known for his work as a writer on Showtime’s Dexter, as well as HBO’s Six Feet Under and Rome.
Marvel’s em>The Inhumans will tell the story of Black Bolt and the Inhuman royal family. The series will air on ABC, but will be filmed and produced in conjunction with IMAX. The first two episodes, of a total eight, will be screened in IMAX theaters across the country in Sept. 2017.
According to reports, the TV series will not replace the mystery-plague Inhumans film, which is still lingering on Marvel Entertainment’s big screen slate. In addition, the characters of The Inhumans will not connect to the Inhumans of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the fate of the two series are not said to be linked.
Fans haven’t seen much of Scott Buck’s work on Iron First yet, but clearly Marvel and ABC were pleased with his work on the Netflix series. Iron First, which stars Finn Jones as Defender #4, Danny Rand, will hit Netflix on March 17, 2017.
The series also stars Jones’ Game of Thrones co-star Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing. David Wenham (The Lord of the Rings) will play Danny’s nemesis Harold Meachum, and Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple. Carrie-Anne Moss of Jessica Jones is also said to be appearing in her third Marvel series as Jeri Hogarth.
