Today the complete track listing for the score of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was unveiled. In addition to the standard soundtrack, a special edition will many benefits.
“I have looked forward to returning to the imaginative world of Middle-earth for quite a while,” says Shore in today’s press release. “I read all of the books by Tolkien, including The Hobbit, when I was in my twenties, and his deep love of nature and all things green resonates deeply with me.”

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’s soundtrack will be available beginning December 11. The film opens in theaters three days later on December 14.
Howard Shore scored the film at Abbey Road studios with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
