Grey’s Anatomy season 13, episode 3, “I Ain’t No Miracle Worker,” brought family drama to the forefront and deepened Meredith’s love triangle.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ 13×03 recap:
The love triangle continues, and now Maggie is regretting ever asking out Riggs. She continues to obsess about the situation and wether or not she’s ruined her working relationship with him. Riggs isn’t actually doing anything to make her think this way, only Maggie is acting weird. And Amelia is shocked to hear the news that Maggie asked him out, moving in with Hunt has caused her to become out of the loop.
Riggs tries to convince Meredith that they should just tell Maggie the truth. She’s not having it, of course, because that would mean telling Maggie she’s been lying again. Riggs isn’t going to let the subject drop though, especially since Meredith calls him a good thing and says she’s feeling guilty Maggie can’t have him. Basically admitting that he’d be a good catch for her too.
Meredith’s avoidance of the subject isn’t going unnoticed by her sisters either. Maggie tells Amelia that she wants to talk about the situation to someone, but Meredith isn’t listening to her. It’s surely only a matter of time before Amelia or Maggie figures out what’s going on.
Another silly idea comes to Meredith, she says that maybe Riggs should just go out with Maggie and be awful. If he just turns all of his charm off and is a jerk then she won’t like him anymore. Riggs just gets stuck on the thought that Meredith think’s he so amazing.
Later, Riggs is able to get Meredith to open up a bit about Derek. Everyone is amazed about the miracle case of the women who was declared dead after having a heart attacked at her dead husbands side only to come back to life later.
Riggs asks Meredith if she ever had the miracle dream where Derek was back suddenly, he’d had them. At first, Meredith automatically answers no. She’s never one to just open up to people, but then she has a second though and admits that she would dream there was a knock on her door and it was Derek.
It gets to the point where Amelia is so bothered by Meredith and Maggie not communicating properly that she forces them to have a sit down. Meredith seems willing to listen, even if it’s about Riggs, but Maggie doesn’t want to fight. Instead she just wants to enjoy some sister time together. Meredith has another chance to admit the truth about Riggs, but doesn’t. Why Meredith, why?
Alex’s life isn’t getting any easier. Not only is he stuck working in the clinic, which he complains has awful supplies, but now that Arizona is back he has another person on his back. Alex knows what he did was wrong, but nothing anyone (including Arizona) has to say can turn back time.
Even though everyone is rushing around trying to help all the victims in the emergency room, Alex is forced to watch from the sidelines. At least he has April to keep him company who is there visiting but still on leave. Meanwhile, DeLuca asks Arizona if he needs to move out and thinks that everyone is pissed at him for the case against Alex. Despite being close to Alex, Arizona sticks by her roomie and offers him support.
When Arizona and Alex are able to have a talk without talking, Arizona admits she’s really pissed that her best pediatrician surgeon isn’t there for her. Alex is hating working at the clinic, but tells her he’ll do whatever it takes to get his job and life back on track. Despite being mad at him, Arizona still misses him.
Bailey’s role as Chief of Surgery is having a bit of a negative affect on her home life. After Tuck gets kicked out of school for starting a fight, but doesn’t want to deal with it, she admits that it’s tiring having to be one to bring down the hammer at work and at home. Ben offers to take on the bad cop role for her at home, he feels he’s one of Tuck’s parents too.
Ben’s methods of teaching Tuck right from wrong are certainly unique. Together, Ben and Jackson show Tuck just what happens when you fight with images of DeLuca after his attack from Alex. But Ben exaggerates the affects and says that now DeLuca is blind. It seems to work though, and he’s horrified by the images.
Following along with the last episode, Grey’s Anatomy kept it pretty light tonight. It’s fun to see Meredith back to her flirting ways and opening up to someone. It’s clear that there’s a storm on the horizon though. Nothing good can come from her lies to Maggie and now Amelia about Riggs.
There wasn’t much development on Alex’s side, other than a quick fight between him and Arizona. They quickly made up though, and he didn’t come in contact with Jo or DeLuca. I’m feeling pretty bad for Alex right now, what he did was awful but it doesn’t define who he is as a person. Seeing him look at those babies in the NICU longingly is just a reminder of the great guy he has the potential to be.
