Promoted only as The Greatest Event in Television History building up to its debut this past Thursday/Friday, Adult Swim has now made available the special written by Jon Hamm and Adam Scott.
The mysterious program, as it turns out, is a shot-by-shot remake of the original Simon & Simon opening. It includes a dramatic, documentary style 8-minute build up offering a behind-the-scenes look at how it was made. Segments include Hamm’s refusal to speak with Scott, a super fan protesting the remake, and Rudd’s attention to detail.
With Hamm and Scott behind the project, naturally it’s a funny retelling of how the recreation came to be. Throughout the piece you’ll see appearances from Jeff Probst, Paul Rudd, Kathryn Hahn, Paul Scheer, Gus Van Sant, and Megan Mullally.
The Greatest Event in Television History is absolutely hilarious – have a watch below. Our only problem is that it aired at such a bad time slot (12 AM Friday) on Cartoon Network.
Hamm is best known for his role as Don Draper on AMC’s Mad Men, while Scott can currently be seen on NBC’s Parks & Rec.
