Glee returns to our screens next week with the season’s eleventh episode, “Sadie Hawkins,” featuring the traditional girl-ask-boy dance taking place at McKinley. To whet our appetites for the show’s return, Fox has released a sneak peek of the actual dance scene of “Sadie Hawkins.”
The video features a little behind-the-scenes commentary on two of the main plots. The first is from Jenna Ushkowitz, whose character Tina Cohen-Chang came up with the idea for a Sadie Hawkins dance in order to orchestrate a scenario in which she could ask out her new crush – Blaine. “What?” Ushkowitz voices the entire fandom as they wonder whether Glee can pull this off without going down the offensive path of pushy-girl-tries-to-convince-gay-guy-he’s-not-gay.
We see the cast and crew filming at the dance, which has a winter theme, where Blaine and Tina dance in a friendly manner, Blaine seemingly oblivious to any romantic notions.
The other plot line we hear about is from Jacob Artist and Melissa Benoist in regards to their characters Jake and Marley, who look set to become a lot more intimate than Blaine and Tina in this episode, which Benoist calls a “turning-point” for Jarley. That’s cool, but we’ll be over here shipping Jake with Ryder – their bromance shines through in this clip as well.
The stars also explain a little about the technicality of filming at the dance – there’s no music, just a bass track, in order to pick up dialogue, we assume. So when the cameras stop rolling, everyone looks pretty strange!
If you missed the general promo for Glee‘s return, you can watch it below.
Aside from the Sadie Hawkins plot, Sam investigates the possibility that the Warblers cheated at Sectionals, which would put New Directions back into the competition; and Kurt explores NYADA, meeting the lovely Adam, played by British actor Oliver Kieran-Jones. Also, for StarKid fans, keep your eyes peeled in the direction of Adam’s glee club!
