HBO kicks off the 50-day countdown to Game of Thrones season 6 with a community rewatch of all 50 episodes.
The countdown, dubbed #GOT50, begins on March 5. Fans are encouraged to watch along using the network’s internet-only streaming service HBO NOW, and to participate in the attendant social media conversation.
Several Twitter “cosplayers” will be involved in the rewatch, live-Tweeting the events of the series as their characters. Fans can follow @Daenerys, @NiceQueenCersei, @GoT_Tyrion and @LordSnow, who will each tweet along with one of Game of Thrones‘ five seasons.

In addition, the series’ official blog, Making Game of Thrones, will share posts, photos, and videos from behind-the-scenes of the epic fantasy series. Prizes will also be offered for fans participating in the 50-episode rewatch.
#GOT50 will conclude on April 23, one day before the highly-anticipated premiere of Game of Thrones season 6. The new season, which extends beyond the bounds of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, will debut with more secrecy and speculation than ever — and the mystery is only heightened with HBO’s decision to eliminate screeners for critics.
Speculation has already been rife thanks to a crop of intriguing new stills from the upcoming season, as well as a truly unnerving preview. In addition to the returning Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, and Emilia Clarke, Game of Thrones season 6 will star several intriguing new characters. Max von Sydow will play the Three-Eyed Raven, Pilou Asbæk joins as Euron Greyjoy, and Ian McShane has just hinted at his character’s intriguing identity.
Whether or not fans choose to participate in the epic #GOT50 rewatch, one thing is for certain: None of us will be truly prepared for the events of Game of Thrones season 6.
Game of Thrones season 6 premieres on Sunday, April 24 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
