Jon finds more violence among the wildlings as Daenerys and Tyrion size each other up on Game of Thrones season 5, episode 8.
The episode, titled “Hardhome,” will focus on Jon’s expedition to the embattled wildling settlement of that name. Down south, Cersei will struggle against the reality of the Faith’s power, while — naturally — Sansa continues to have the worst life ever.
Sansa’s marriage to Ramsay Bolton got even worse on last week’s episode of Game of Thrones, when the bastard flayed her maid to death on Theon’s information. Further north, Maester Aemon died after Jon left with Tormund for Hardhome, and Sam and Gilly finally consummated their love. In Dorne, Bronn almost died of poison and gratuitous nudity.
Tensions also continued to skyrocket in Kings Landing as Olenna Tyrell exhausted every avenue to free Margaery and Loras, and Tommen raged against his powerlessness. Cersei enjoyed some serious gloating, but found the joke on her when the High Sparrow (and probably Littlefinger) produced Lancel Lannister and had the queen imprisoned.

And in Meereen, Jorah, Tyrion, and Daernerys were all shocked to collide at the semi-finals for the fighting pits. Tyrion introduced himself as Jorah’s “gift” for Dany, and everyone was left to wonder what the “Khaleesi’s” next move will be.
Judging from the trailer for “Hardhome,” Dany isn’t going to be all smiles for Ser Jorah. But the still photos for tonight’s episode suggest that, at the very least, Tyrion will have a chance to say his piece to the queen. (Which is good, because we’ve been wanting that to happen for like, forever.) The photos focus mostly on events in the frigid landscape beyond the Wall, and offer a look at Birgitte Hjort Sorenson (the Das Sound Machine gal from Pitch Perfect 2) as a wildling named Karsi.
Game of Thrones season 5, episode 8, “Hardhome,” airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
