To celebrate his 66th birthday today, artist David Bowie has given a gift to his fans: A new song entitled “Where Are We Now?”
You can listen and watch the new David Bowie song with the lyric video below:
In addition to the song, there was news of a new album called The Next Day which will be released worldwide in March. It is his first album in more than a decade. Australia will get the album on March 8, the rest of the world excluding the United States on March 11, and then it’ll hit the U.S. on March 12. It has fourteen tracks on the standard version and seventeen tracks on the deluxe.
“Where Are We Now?” is a slow burner that has the feel of classic Bowie. His soft yet remarkable voice on the track is being well-received by fans who were stunned to hear a new song without any pre-release hype.
Bowie has taken a step back from performing since heart surgery in 2004. While performing on stage in Germany, the singer suffered chest pain and canceled several upcoming dates after learning he had a blocked artery. He received emergency treatment in the foreign country.
You can pre-order the standard album here on iTunes, or grab the deluxe album (with three bonus tracks). The single is currently available here for $1.29.
What do you think of Bowie’s new song, and will you pick up his album in March?
