After a year of back-to-back success overseas, U.K. sensation Conor Maynard’s debut album Contrast drops in the U.S. this Tuesday.
Packed with smooth R&B and beats worthy of any dance club, Maynard is sure to be a success…much like his counter-part Justin Beiber.
But don’t let their similarities fool you.
Even though both young artists got their start online making a name for themselves and are categorized in the same genre, Maynard has made it clear he wants to be accepted for his music–not musical comparisons.
“I don’t want to be the next anyone,” Maynard told MTV News during a sit-down interview this past week. “I want to be the first Conor Maynard. I think I want to have a successful career that is unique in its own way.”
While Maynard will be entering an American pop music scene that is already devoted to Beliebers, Maynard’s music does stand the chance of being recognized for his at times raspy, smooth voice and with Ne-Yo backing him, Maynard is bound to do great things.
Contrast features hits such as “Vegas Girl,” “Turn Around” featuring Ne-Yo and includes guest tracks from Rita Ora and Pharrell.
