Academy Award-winning actor Christoph Waltz is starring in Terry Gilliam’s new movie The Zero Theory, and the zany trailer has just hit the web.
The Waltz starrer The Zero Theorem is currently playing in Italy and Russia, and it’ll hit a few more countries in March, but there is unfortunately not a release date for much of the world, including the U.S.
Luckily, a trailer for the film has just been released. Check it out:
Anyone who has followed the career of Terry Gilliam should not be surprised that the trailer look bizarre to say the least. Known for films like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Twelve Monkeys, Gilliam has made a name for himself for not telling stories in a traditional way. His films are often colorful, and the trailer shows that The Zero Theorem will be no exception.
Waltz will play a computer genius named Qohen Leth. Leth searches for the meaning of life, but he’s distracted by “Management.” If you want to know what it feels like to take drugs but don’t actually want any of the horrors that come from them, it looks like The Zero Theorem will serve you nicely.
In addition to Waltz, the film also stars Melanie Thierry, Lucas Hedges, Ben Whishaw, Tilda Swinton, David Thewlis, and Matt Damon.
Here’s the official synopsis:
An eccentric and reclusive computer genius plagued with existential angst works on a mysterious project aimed at discovering the purpose of existence – or the lack thereof -once and for all. However, it is only once he experiences the power of love and desire that he is able to understand his very reason for being.
