AMC has released part two of their Breaking Bad season 6 set report, and a photo used in the article depicts an interesting situation given what happened during the season 5 finale.
In the photo from the Breaking Bad season 6 set, we see actors Dean Norris (Hank), Anna Gunn (Skyler), Betsy Brandt (Marie), and Bryan Cranston (Walter) sitting in a restaurant for a scene they’re about to shoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The photo is interesting to us because at the end of Breaking Bad season 5 we see Hank connect Walt to Heisenberg, thus realizing that his own brother-in-law is his arch enemy.
There could be one of two situations being played out in this scene. Either Hank and Walt have set aside their differences and are now one big happy family, or Hank is playing his cards close to the vest and Walt still doesn’t know what his brother-in-law knows.
Prior to seeing this photo we had imagined season 6 kicking off with a big confrontation between Walt and Hank which then leads to them not seeing each other until a final showdown.
Though the photo shows the cast in between takes, the scene looks pretty tense. In AMC’s set report, the intensity of what they’d been shooting is heavily noted. For example:
Anna Gunn wipes a tear as she tells me, “It’s been so intense. I feel like my head is going to explode.” Aaron Paul swears he’s OK for now, but knows that when the wrap date gets closer, “I’m gonna be a mess.” Bryan Cranston admits that after six years and sixty-two episodes, he could even go for another season — “But I respect Vince Gilligan’s decision not to draw the story out and dilute it,” he adds. “And now that it’s ending, every episode is just…” Here he slaps his hands together and then shoots his right arm forward, mimicking a car speeding away at full throttle.
