The CW has released a trailer for the upcoming series Black Lightning, introducing the titular hero and his family.
The series, which stars Cress Williams in the lead role, centers on retired superhero Jefferson Pierce. With a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, Jefferson is pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend: Black Lightning.
The series is being written by Salim and Mara Brock Akil and is based on the DC character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden.

According to the schedule released at the CW Upfront presentation, Black Lightning will be held for mid-season.
Additionally, CW boss Mark Pedowitz revealed Black Lightning will not be part of the Arrowverse, calling it “a separate situation.” Joining the series with the Arrowverse would be tricky since it will be filming in Atlanta while the other Arrowverse shows film in Vancouver.
Then again, Supergirl still had a crossover with The Flash when it filmed in Los Angeles. Time will tell.
