Glee creator Ryan Murphy recently asked Bette Midler to appear on Glee, to which she said yes!
During last night’s God’s Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards in New York City, Ryan Murphy asked the legendary Bette Midler if she’d like to be on Glee, to which the actress agreed!
Ryan later tweeted that he has already started speculating about what kind of role Bette should play on the show:
I just asked the incredible Bette Midler to be on Glee in front of 1,000 people. I hope she says yes!
Bette said yes! Amazing. I am plotting…who should she play?
Ryan was being honored at this event for his philanthropic work and apparently made the offer to Bette during his speech.
Bette also went to her Twitter, rehashing the amazing night she had, including mentioning Ryan’s request:
And from the stage, @ryanmurphy invited me to guest on Glee! I should get out more!!
Bette even went as far as to start thinking of potential roles she could play on the show. One role that she ended up tweeting was to play the grandmother of Lea Michele’s character, Rachel Berry:
Ok, @rpmurphy I have one vote for Rachel’s grandmother…hmmmm. I’m thinking, I’m thinking!!
We think the role of Rachel’s grandmother might be a little cliche, but then again it would be hard to do an episode of Glee with Bette Midler and not have her directly work with Lea Michele, right?
Do you have any good ideas as to what role Bette would play? Maybe they could get Kathy Najimy together and do a scene with Sarah Jessica Parker for a Hocus Pocus reunion?!
Remember, this isn’t confirmed through Fox but hopefully we’ll get to see this invitation come to light. A few years ago we remember both Ryan Murphy and Anne Hathaway talking about their run-in at the Golden Globes, where Anne agreed to be on Glee – but it never happened.
