Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch is furthering his ascent into world-domination by checking “officiate at a wedding” off his list.
The rising actor was asked by an old friend to officiate his wedding to another man at a ceremony held in Ibiza, an island in the Mediterranean Sea earlier this month.
The Sun spoke to the actor before the wedding and said “it’s a very private, lovely thing to be asked to do.”
He added, “Of course I’m going to make a joke after it if it goes well — ‘I do weddings. Next will be children’s parties and bat mitzvahs’.”
Cumberbatch said the wedding attendees were primarily Jewish and gay, so he hoped they “will be lenient” towards the star who doesn’t have much experience officiating.

The newspaper also spoke to a guest at the wedding who said “the hotel was lush, the bridegrooms were beautiful, and the man who married them (to each other) was Benedict Cumberbatch — so yes, it was quite a blast.”
We’re sure the Cumberbitches are already seeking ways to get their favorite actor to officiate their wedding.
Congratulations to the couple, and to Cumberbatch for a successful first wedding ceremony!
Thanks, The Sun.
