The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug second trailer has been released and it features some incredible new footage from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit sequel.
Warner Bros. released a couple new posters from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug yesterday featuring Martin Freeman, and also promised a new trailer for the film would be available today. The Hobbit sequel’s second trailer has been released and now fans can watch it below!
The first trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was incredible enough, giving us our first look at Smaug the dragon, but the second trailer for the film takes the action to a whole new level. We finally get to hear Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug.
We get new looks at Orlando Bloom as Legolas and the Elven guard of Mirkwood, Tauriel, played by Lost star Evangeline Lilly. The budding romance between the two is briefly on display. Bilbo is briefly shown draped in messy webs in what will be the battle involving loads of spiders.
We also get a glimpse of Bilbo and the dwarves being washed down the river in barrels after escaping Mirkwood and some great looks at Lake Town. Gandalf is shown and has a couple of great lines, including one about being blinded, and some shots of Luke Evans as Bard.
Perhaps most noteworthy is new glimpses at Smaug (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) himself. We hear a couple of lines from the highly-anticipated character as he addresses Bilbo and sends an inescapable amount of fire his way.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug release date is set for December 13, 2013. It is the second film in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy based on the novels by revered author J.R.R Tolkien.
The final movie in The Hobbit trilogy, There and Back Again, will hit theaters December 2014. Jackson had originally intended for The Hobbit to only be two films, but later decided last year during post-production that it would become a trilogy.
