BIG news for fans of Fox’s 24, which aired for eight seasons and ended in 2010. The network is currently in talks with Kiefer Sutherland to bring back the show for a limited run.
Deadline reports that Fox is looking to bring back 24 as a limited engagement event, which we presume means one season. Sutherland is currently in “early talks” and no deals are in place yet. He would reprise his role as Agent Jack Bauer.
Perhaps Fox is looking at Netflix’s recent revival of Arrested Development (their old show that ran for three seasons on the basic cable network before being canceled) and want to create similar fanfare for another one of their beloved programs.
In recent years, we’ve heard about talks of a 24 movie, but those plans never materialized further than discussions and speculation.
24 ended roughly three years ago after a 192-episode run. It starred a slew of actors and actresses over the years, including Mary Lynn Rajskub, Carlos Bernard, Elisha Cuthbert, Dennis Haysbert, James Morrison, Reiko Aylesworth, and Kim Raver. It was created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran.
One of the most unique aspects about 24 was that each episode depicted exactly one hour of storyline.
As fans of 24 ourselves, we’ll absolutely be covering the show if Fox is able to pull off a deal with Sutherland.
Thanks, Deadline.
