October is quickly approaching and that means new movies and TV shows will soon be new on Netflix.
At the beginning of every month, the Netflix catalog gets an influx of new content. November is no different, and some of the titles that are available this month are some of our favorite movies ever. Our queues are currently too full, but it looks like they’re about to get even fuller.
The full selection of titles that are and will be new on Netflix will follow, but first we wanted to highlight a few selections.
Nominated for six Oscars last year, Nebraska was one of the best films of 2014. Starring Bruce Dern, Will Forte, June Squibb, and Bob Odenkirk, Nebraska is a great, touching film. It’s no surprise that great director Alexander Payne was able to craft such a profoundly moving film as he’s done time and time again.
Snowpiercer made our list of the best movies of 2014 (so far), and for good reason. This film from Korean director Bong Joon-ho is a great piece of filmmaking with a lot to say of a destructive class system. Including a career-best performance from Chris Evans, Snowpiercer is a must watch. Read our review of the film here.
This writer never had a chance to see Ida during its theatrical run earlier this year, but he’s certain to watch it very soon. Ida received rave reviews, as is evidenced by its 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The One I Love is a very compelling film about what it means to love someone. It’s highly unusual concept is something you don’t want spoiled, so we recommend going into this one blind. It’s possible you won’t be completely satisfied at the end, but you will be changed.
Long before he directed Captain America: The First Avenger, Joe Johnston directed a somewhat similar film titled The Rocketeer. This superhero film set in 1938 is a lot of fun.
Anna Kendrick was part of a really good film last year titled Drinking Buddies, and her following project with director Joe Swanberg is definitely worth a watch. They filmed Happy Christmas with no script and only a 12 page outline, and the result was remarkably good. Read our review of the film here.
