Big Brother season 16, episode 16 just finished airing and the week 5 Power of Veto has taken place! Read our recap to find out what happened.
Now that Frankie is the only HoH, he’s ready to execute his plan to back-door Amber. But first he wants to tell Caleb and get the Power of Veto settled. He’s hoping that either Zach or Donny will also be in the POV competition.
Per usual Victoria is crying – worried that she will be sent home. She seems to think it’s solely Jocasta’s fault that they lost the Battle of the Block.
Zach decides that he wants to cause trouble and tease the have-nots Christine and Nicole, so he goes and sits in front of them eating his snacks. Frankie and Cody watch on from the HoH room and talk about how Zach is turning into Devin.
Alone, Frankie tries to talk Zach into calming down. He says they should keep the rest of the week low key. But he suggest that Zach should wait till the meeting to give a speech. That way he can fulfill his Team America mission.
Celebrating her last night in the Germitard, Nicole decides to give a strip tease for Hayden. It’s awkward and adorable – totally Nicole. Afterwards Hayden talks game with Victoria. He tells her to pick him if she gets choice and he’ll save her. Nicole watches on and gets sketched out.
Derrick gets called to the diary room and reads a letter from his family. It tells him that his grandfather passed. He quickly tells the house about it before leaving to be alone.
Caleb gets annoyed when he feels like Amber is ignoring him. He claims that he doesn’t care anymore but can’t seem to stop talking about her.
Although Zach is no longer HoH, he remains in the room as Frankie’s cuddle buddy. Even though Zach says he’s straight, Frankie says actions speak louder than words. And Zach petting Frankie to sleep every night sure does speak volumes.
At the Power of Veto meeting, Frankie pulls Donny’s name, Victoria gets house guest’s choice and picks Hayden, and Jocasta gets Christine.
At the Power of Veto competition, they must rock their horses back and forth sixty times then stack their gold bars and get back to their horse before the time runs out. If they run out of time they are eliminated. The first person to stack 50 gold bars wins.
Jocasta is eliminated but agrees to eat slop for a week to get back in the competition. Then Frankie manages to drop all of his bars. Jocasta’s bars all drop next. Christine thinks she’s done and hits the buzzer but then finds out some of her bars dropped. That gives Hayden the chance to finish and hit his buzzer, making him the winner.
After the competition Hayden meets with the guys up in the HoH room. He tells them he plans to use it on Victoria and they reveal their plan to back-door Amber. He’s fine with it and Frankie’s last step is to tell Caleb.
Later, Amber goes up to the HoH room and it gets awkward because Caleb is up there. He leaves and everyone pounces on her to find out what happened. She tells them that she tried to clear things up and says he’s blowing things out of proportion. Zach plans to use that against her and tells Caleb.
Caleb goes up to talk to Frankie. He says he has a plan that Amber needs to be scared and they should have her nominated to teach her a lesson. But he says he doesn’t want her to actually leave. He thinks that he still runs the house. Frankie’s obviously all for it except he secretly does plan to send her home.
Team America has a meeting to discuss their current mission. Frankie tells Donny and Derrick he’s got Zach planning on giving a speech during the meeting. Frankie also shares with Donny that they plan to get rid of Amber, which he agrees with.
At the veto meeting Hayden uses his power to save Victoria. Frankie nominates Amber as a replacement and says it’s because he’s not sure if she can be trusted anymore. Before the group can break up, Zach goes off on a speech about why Amber should leave. But Amber just smiles and doesn’t argue back. So Team America still hasn’t won their mission.
