Following the news that Brooks Wheelan will not be returning to SNL this fall, cast members John Milhiser, Noel Wells and Nasim Pedrad will also be leaving.
According to Deadline, season 39 freshmen John Milhiser and Noël Wells will be joining Brooks Wheelan as they exit the show before this coming 40th season of SNL. Long-time cast member and a favorite of the show Nasim Pedrad will also not return in the fall.
Pedrad will be leaving to join the new Fox comedy “Mulaney,” which is also executively produced by SNL showrunner Lorne Michaels according to Deadline.
Further, cast member Mike O’Brien is also up for negotiation with his contract according to Deadline. Reports are saying that O’Brien may be made a writer on the show as opposed to being an on-screen cast member as he has been.
Last season SNL was forced to reboot with a majority of new cast members being brought in to replace the six cast members that had left the show following its 38th season. Seth Meyers also left the show midseason last year to helm Late Night.
As we inch closer to fall premieres, we’re sure more announcements about casting will be made both departures and newcomers.
