In a new radio interview, The Walking Dead series creator Robert Kirkman says that the season 5 premiere will answer several burning questions.
The mystery surrounding what is going on at Terminus, where Rick and friends are currently being held captive, will be lifted during The Walking Dead season 5, episode 1, Kirkman tells EW.
“In our premiere episode of season 5 we’re going to give a ton of answers of who the people of Terminus are, what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, what’s going on with them,” he says. “And by the end of that episode you’re going to have a much better understanding of what’s going on with them and why they’re so important to the show. Oh, and Daryl dies.”

Kirkman is surprisingly open about how much the first episode will answer. Keep it up!
The season 5 premiere sounds like it’ll be a rewarding episode for fans who have to wait all summer for details about Terminus. Maybe a 2-hour premiere is in order, when you consider all the information that they plan to let out?
The fact that he had to joke that Daryl (played by Norman Reedus) is going to die strongly suggests that that character isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Daryl is easily one of the most popular character on the show, so getting rid of him would seriously frustrate a large number of viewers.
Elsewhere in Kirkman’s new interview, the executive producer echo’d comments about the longevity of the series. “Right now the [comic book] issues that we are doing as we speak is material that could be adapted into a season 10, 11, or 12 depending on how we adapt things,” he says. “And we’re not stopping. So five years from now we’ll be doing comics that could be for season 15.”
Kirkman warns that endless source material does not mean they’ll stretch the show that far. “It’s unrealistic to think it can go for that long, but if the show remains successful, the potential is there for that… All that said, I’m just hoping and praying we make it to season 7.”
Speaking of Reedus, yesterday the actor spoke about what to expect in the new season. He said that all of the characters are so “badass” and spoke highly of the season 5 scripts.
The Walking Dead season 5 cast will be at San Diego Comic-Con next month. They’ll likely reveal the premiere date and the first trailer.
