Two new sneak peeks from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 18 make it clear that there is no turning back.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 18 will air at 9:00 p.m. this Tuesday, and that isn’t the only change on the way. As indicated by last week’s wild installment, reliable alliances appear to be a thing of the past as the show hurdles toward its season 1 finale.
The opening sequence of the episode, titled “Providence,” gives us a long, painful look at the depth of former-Agent Ward’s apparent betrayal. The sneak peek also features a look at an enigmatic enemy who has spent some time off the radar.
In the sneak peak, the Clairvoyant’s flower-obsessed associate Raina crafts paper blossoms in her S.H.I.E.L.D. prison cell. Upon hearing sounds of a break-in, Raina sits expectantly on her bed, but is shocked to see that Ward is her welcome wagon. Ward – wearing an expression cold enough to freeze mercury – gives her a gift from the Clairvoyant: a flower-patterned dress.
Things don’t go quite as well for Ward and the Clairvoyant (also known as Agent John Garrett) in the next clip from “Providence.”
In the second sneak peek, Ward and Garrett hit a snag while trying to infiltrate the Fridge – the S.H.I.E.L.D. guards refuse to allow them entry without verbal clearance from Agent Hand. That’s a problem, since we are absolutely like 98% sure that Ward murdered her last week. Even when a random helicopter starts firing on Ward and Garrett, the guards refuse to open the door.
Things don’t look peachy for the agents of Hydra at the moment. Still, we have an inkling that the bad guys will continue racking up victory points for a while longer in this game.

With Colonel Glenn Talbot now on their trail, Coulson and his team seek refuge in the last place anyone would look, where they begin to uncover S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most dangerous secrets – secrets that could destroy them all.
Adrian Pasdar will make his debut as Colonel Glenn Talbot in “Providence.” Patton Oswalt will also appear as Agent Eric Koenig.
ABC will air last week’s episode, “Turn, Turn, Turn,” in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s standard 8:00 p.m. slot. “Providence” will follow at 9:00 p.m.
