Proving himself to be a stand up human, Ed Sheeran sang to a 15-year-old girl as she passed away.
15-year-old Triona Priestley passed away from cystic fibrosis on Sunday, but in a very heartwarming turn of events, her final wish was granted.
Priestly told her friends and family that, more than anything, she wanted to have Sheeran sing for her. They then started tweeting at Sheeran with the #SongForTri hashtag which eventually was seen by Sheeran’s fans and began trending on Twitter.
Sheeran’s team took note when it became trending, and a phone call between the two quickly was arranged.
When they were connected, Priestley requested that Sheeran sing her favorite song of his, “Little Bird.”
If you haven’t heard the beautiful song, we’ve embedded it here.
“Myself and my family would like to thank Ed Sheeran and everyone who started and supported the #SongForTri campaign,” Cole Priestly, Triona’s brother told Indpendent.ie.
“Ed rang Triona and personally sang ‘Little Bird’ to her as she took her last breaths,” Priestley’s best friend Lucy Hanlon wrote on Facebook, according to the Daily Mail. “Triona left us listening to her idol surrounded by all the people who loved her. People’s respect is incredible. We would like to thank everyone.”
After he heard on Tuesday that she had passed, Sheeran tweeted about Priestley, showing that he was moved by the experience.
Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x

Sheeran proved that he was a stand up human by dropping everything to grant Priestley’s final wish. He had to be quick, and he just made it.
We here at Hypable would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Triona Priestley as well as those around the far too many teens that die everyday that don’t happen to get a special last wish granted like this.
