According to the songwriter of the program, a sequel to the stand-alone short film Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog “will exist.”
In a statement to EW, Jed Whedon, brother of The Avengers director/screenwriter Joss Whedon, said, “DH2 will exist, in some format or another, at some point in the future.”
However, a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, and for the Whedon brothers, that includes concentrating on massive current projects, like Joss’ The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Jed’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..
“We have many songs written and the plot outlined, but needless to say, we’ve been busy. Joss has had a hectic couple of years and is in the middle of the busiest year of his life, as is Zack and as are we,” said Jed.
The songwriter went on to reference stars Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion, saying “also, the actors have other things they’re acting in, I think.”
In due time, it seems Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog 2 will release, but only when it’s ready. Jed ended his statement with, “So the future is uncertain, our passion remains.”
Hulu released the original Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog in 2008 to great critical acclaim. The plot follows the lonely supervillain Dr. Horrible as he fights to impress a crush from the laundromat, Penny (Felicia Day). However, the admirable Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion) begins to woo Penny before Dr. Horrible can reveal his good intentions.
We appreciate that the production team of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog 2 is going to take the time getting all of their ducks in a row for a proper sequel. As seen by rushed sequels in the Disney-verse, doing things such as replacing actors or directors would most likely turn out to be a lackluster cash-cow effort off the success of the original title.
What will the plot of ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog 2’ be?
Thanks, EW.
