The Originals season 1, episode 12 “Dance Back from the Dead” aired tonight and we’re loving this season already! Check out our recap of the episode.
Sacrificial Magic
-Celeste brought her risen friends to the cemetery and admits she’s been coming there for a century, always wearing a new face. Celeste has been taking over the lives of people/impersonating them for years.
-In 1919 she goes to see Papa Tunde, who says a great darkness is coming. He practices sacrificial magic and uses it to punish his enemies, and he will help the witches get rid of the vampires if they accept him as their leader.
-Meanwhile, Elijah and Klaus meet with a few werewolves in New Orleans.
-Papa Tunde comes to the meeting to give the witches a voice in their negotiations and make sure they get what they ask. He brought them a gift, and it’s the mayor’s head.
-In the modern day, Klaus brings Thierry back from The Garden and Marcel is getting drunk, not caring about anything.
-Since the witches’ harvest failed, their magic will go away. Klaus orders a “roasting” in the cauldron.
-Rebekah convinced Klaus to get Thierry out, she thinks he’ll know who has the magic that was supposed to bring back Davina.
-She also wants to make an alliance with the witch who has the power, she’s sick of being bullied by Klaus.
-Elijah thinks that Klaus is changing, and asks that if Rebekah can’t support him then she at least should do nothing to provoke him.
-Klaus is trying to talk Marcel out of doing nothing and drinking all the time, but there’s a problem.
-When the vampires went to mess with the witches they found two vampires dead.
-The bodies are marked on their foreheads and Marcel walks away, saying the safe thing to do is to stay out of it.
-Thierry shows Rebekah something, the remnants of Papa Tunde’s sacrificial magic.
-Papa Tunde shows up and starts performing dark magic on Rebekah.
Everyone’s A Monster
-Klaus orders the vampires to go and attack whoever did it but they’re freaked out, and none of them want to fight.
-Cami is at the bar waiting for Sophie to come by, and Marcel stops by to join her. He explains what happened to Davina, still upset.
-Haley is going through Davina’s drawings when Elijah visits her. She wants to figure out why Davina drew pictures of Celeste.
-Elijah tells her he doesn’t want to upset Klaus by being around her too much.
-Meanwhile, Cami and Marcel talk about how Klaus used her and Cami wants to get back at Klaus, but Marcel advises against it.
-Marcel tells her a story about someone else who went against Klaus when Marcel got back from WWI.
-Flashback: Elijah and Klaus talk to Marcel about a witch who wants a piece of New Orleans and how Klaus thinks they should fight, but Elijah thinks they should negotiate a truce.
-Papa Tunde shows up to Klaus’ party in the flashback. He invited his enemy to his house so that he can learn his weakness and strengths.
-Back in modern day, Papa Tunde is performing a sacrificial ritual over Rebekah’s curiously pale body.
-Apparently the power of Rebekah is rushing through him, and Celeste asks if it will be enough to make Klaus suffer and he says yes.
Papa Tunde is Eeeeevil
-Klaus calls Marcel and asks Marcel to meet him at the witches’ hangout.
-Klaus sees another symbol of sacrificial magic on the wall when Sophie turns up.
-Elijah thinks that Rebekah is the one responsible for what’s happening to the vampires, and talks to Thierry to get information.
-Thierry tells Elijah and Haley about what happened and they head over to the compound where Rebekah was attacked.
-Marcel continues the story of the flashback of how Papa Tunde wanted money and territory but since Klaus wouldn’t give it to him he went on a rampage.
-Papa Tunde started going after werewolves, vampires and even witches who went against him.
-Klaus noticed that Papa Tunde is channeling his sons’ power, and then shows Papa Tunde their heads, followed by gouging out his eyes.
-Cami thinks it’s horrible, and that Marcel might end up as one of Klaus’ victims.
-Then Papa Tunde shows up again!
Baby Klaus: 1/4th Witch, 1/4th Vampire, 1/4th Werewolf, 1/4th Human
-Marcel tried breaking his neck but he’s channeling the power of an original vampire, which makes killing him harder.
-As Papa Tunde starts doing the same thing he did to Rebekah, Cami attacks him. BRAVE WOMAN!
-Sophie explains to Klaus that the magic being used is old, sacrificial magic, when Cami calls and tells him a witch doctor is attacking Marcel.
-Elijah and Haley find Rebekah but there’s a protection spell around her so they can’t get rid of Papa’s magic.
-Klaus attempts to attack Papa but fails.
-Sophie tells Elijah that the only way to break the protection spell is to use another ingredient of magic against it, and he uses the blood of a witch… Haley’s baby, since it’s a quarter witch.
-As Elijah weakens the circle and gets Rebekah out of it, Klaus manages to bring down Papa, only temporarily.
-Marcel needs blood to heal and Cami volunteers herself to help, and Klaus tries to stop her but she says he doesn’t control her anymore.
Rebekah Falls in Love for the 100th Time
-Thierry gets attacked by Rebekah because she hates that he left him. She always gets the short end of the stick!
-Elijah talks to Rebekah about Klaus’ happiness, and she hates that it’s always about his happiness and she never gets her own.
-Rebekah thinks that Elijah is a hypocrite because he would choose love over family but condemn her for doing the same.
-Rebekah meets Klaus in the magic shop and they talk about how Papa coming back is bringing back a bunch of memories.
-Flashback; 1920s: Marcel is drinking and drowning his sorrows because he’s the reason Papa Tunde came to town. He wanted the most dangerous witch anyone could find. He figured if Klaus gets chased off then Marcel can try to get her back.
-Rebekah loves that he would risk his own life for the off chance she’ll give him her affection, and tells Klaus about how the only man Klaus fears is his father. They need a witch to find him. And like that Rebekah falls for Marcel… again.
An All-Powerful Blade
-Klaus gives an announcement to the vampires and tells them they need to prove themselves to him. Their community is under attack and he needs warriors, not cowards. They either fight or they leave.
-Thierry tells Klaus they don’t owe him anything, and starts to leave and half the crowd leaves, but half stay.
-Sophie explains to Klaus that the harvest is why Papa Tunde is back. Someone jacked the power and brought back four witches.
-One way to get Papa Tunde to stop is to keep him from killing vampires and getting power, but he already found The Garden and sacrificed all of them.
-The blade he used now holds all the powers of the vampires he killed, and it will do things worse than death, even to the Originals.
-Celeste uses the blade, as he willingly sacrifices himself so the blade gets even more powerful.
