Not much is known about who will be cast in Star Wars: Episode VII, but a new report suggests one actor to join the film may be Breaking Bad‘s Jesse Plemons.
The news of the potential casting is coming from The Wrap. They’ve been told from multiple sources that have knowledge of the very secret casting process that Plemons has auditioned and that he will be flying into Los Angeles to have another audition with director J.J. Abrams.
Two sources have said that Plemons is a favorite to be cast in Star Wars: Episode VII, and a third added that he’s definitely in the running. If Plemons does get cast, it would be the biggest role of his fairly young career.
As of this point, no actor has officially joined Star Wars: Episode VII. It is expected that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher will all return to reprise their roles from the original trilogy, but nothing has been confirmed. So far only one character has been confirmed for the highly anticipated upcoming sequel, and that character is R2-D2.

Other than his role in the final season of Breaking Bad, Jesse Plemons is also known for his role on Friday Night Lights (the TV show) as well as roles in Battleship, Paul, and Observe and Report.
It is not known what sort of role Plemons would have in the series, but after his turn on Breaking Bad, it would be easy to see him slip into a villainous role once again. It’d also be nice to see him as a good guy, so it’s not really a big deal either way.
Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theaters on December 18, 2015, so it’s not a surprise that castings haven’t been announced yet. In December, Disney revealed that they expected the script to be done in January. As casting is appearing to be rolling, it looks like Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan made the mouse’s deadline.
