The CW has released a batch of promotional stills from Supernatural season 9, episode 2, titled “Devil May Care.”

The official synopsis for Supernatural season 9, episode 2 reads:

ABADDON RISES — Dean (Jensen Ackles) shocks Sam (Jared Padalecki) by popping open the trunk of the Impala and showing him that he has kidnapped Crowley (Mark Sheppard). Kevin (guest star Osric Chau) freaks out when he sees the King of Hell, but Sam and Dean convince him that they need Crowley to find the demons on Earth. Meanwhile, Abaddon (guest star Alaina Huffman) re-emerges and plans to take over Hell.

Judging by the episode synopsis, the biggest omission from these promotional stills is Abaddon. However, we have seen footage of her in various season 9 promos.

Also missing from both the stills and the synopsis is Castiel, who we know will be struggling with his new-found humanity.

We also have a synopsis and promotional stills from the season 9 premiere, titled “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here.”

And don’t miss the various promotional images for season 9, including the poster with the tagline “Prepare for the fall” and the character posters that put our four main characters into cages.

Supernatural season 9, episode 2 “Devil May Care” airs Tuesday, October 15 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.

I have mixed feeling about season 9 i like Castiel becoming human however not constantly seperated from the winchesters. Im bored with sick Sam however thanks to Dean he is cured quickly thank god. Dean having a storyline seems more promising this year as long as he dosnt be Sams nanny . Im looking forward in watching the new season however i havent got that excitment i usually get my problem i set my standerds too high and get disapointed Purgatory in S8 is a good example. I enjoyed those scenes but not as much as i wanted to, the pugatory i wantsd to see was the one we had at the end of S7 a dark frightening pla e with those shadow beasts. Never mind im going to keep my standerds lower this time and enjoy the show

I agree! I was waiting for actual monsters in purgatory. Aparently everyone in heaven hell and purgatory look like humans. Other shows have cgi monsters now like grimm oronce upon a time. Why cant supernatural do it? It has the viewers meaning it has the money. They need to step up their game because it is feeling repetative and getting a bit boring. Give me a reason to believe why sam and dean have to be the center of everything? They dont deliver. Hoping for the best for season 9 cause ive been with them thru thick and think aka season 6 an 7

I think that, mostly, the idea with the monsters is that they have adapted to blend in with society, so that most people don’t see them–you have to know what to look for. It’s a monster version of “passing”–and it made the series cheap to film when they didn’t have the budget. We did get a spectacular hellhound last year though, so maybe they will branch out with more monster effects.

I think season 8 was the best since seasons 4-5, I think Supernatural has step their game back up again can’t wait for season 9. I just hate its back on Tuesdays again shouldn’t kept it on Wednesdays

You Betcha. I still want Sam to be the face of CTG. Mr. Grey to those who don’t know.
