Last week rumors surfaced that Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurd-Wood had auditioned for Star Wars: Episode VII. We didn’t find the castings likely, but new evidence has surfaced that suggests there may actually be something to the rumors.

The initial rumors again came from Latino Review. They’ve been the ones to break a number of the Star Wars: Episode VII so far. While their track record is yet to be determined as there have been no official casting announcements as of yet, they’ve likely had both hits and misses.

The latest development on the potential involvement of Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurd-Wood again from El Mayimbe (one of their writers) on his twitter account.

He found a screenshot from an official Star Wars forum called Obi Wants To Know Me (yes, really). This forum exists under an invite only setup that gives access to private information while requiring you sign a non-disclosure agreement. The screenshot (which was likely sent to him by an anonymous user) showed the site asking users what they thought of the Pettyfer and Hurd-Wood potential castings.

There are two different ways to look at the information presented here. Is it possible that Lucasfilm wanted to gauge through their site how fans would react to this casting? Very. With the reaction of fans up in arms after Ben Affleck was cast in the role of Batman in the Man of Steel sequel, Lucasfilm would be wise to not have a similar reaction to an arguably even bigger franchise.

On the other hand, it’s very possible they were just trying to engage their audience. It’s unlikely that they’d actually reveal who they were looking at casting before deals were signed. Even with non-disclosure agreements, that could still cause problems if deals weren’t locked in place.

Do you think Pettyfer and Hurd-Wood will actually get cast in ‘Star Wars: Epsisode VII’?

This is kind of funny. She was at some point fancast as Clary and he, as everyone knows, was a fan favourite for Jace. And now they might do a movie together.

Another point is that all of this is completely false and that there are a alot of gullible people out there. To each their own.

I have no real opinion of Alex Pettyfer BUT I would love to see Rachel Hurd Wood in Star Wars! But yeah hard to say, were still going to need better evidence

To be honest I don’t think it’s the same thing. Fans complaining and starting petitions because they don’t like Ben Affleck as Batman to me are still quite pathetic but they are strongly against it because the character of Batman is well-known and beloved.
Star Wars, on the other hand, will feature mostly new characters so while fans can express their feelings towards the actors they can’t really determine if they fit their parts since they don’t know anything about the story and its characters.

I’ve said this elsewhere, but I am REALLY REALLY REALLY hoping that Americans are cast as the leads in the new Star Wars trilogy. Brits are great but have been getting some of the lead characters in American franchises.
Pettyfer and Hurd-Wood would actually disappoint me if they were cast for other reasons too. The original Star Wars trilogy was successful in part, I think, because the leads were new and the audience could really immerse themselves in the story that way. This new trilogy should DEFINITELY follow the same route, with newcomers. It’s not like this franchise needs a big name! Plus, Hurd-Wood does NOT look like the Skywalker women–small brunettes. I will frankly be hurt if Abrams and his casting team doesn’t keep that up because this is the only franchise we women who are short brunettes get in which to see a lead actress who looks like us. PLEASE JJ, Disney, and Lucasfilm DON’T drop the ball on this aspect of the role. And please choose actors who are capable of giving intelligent interviews. And who truly understand the responsibility of being in Star Wars. PLEASE!

Alex Pettyfer really needs to be cast as the Christian Grey…..
