It’s that time of the year again! Glee is ramping up after what many would call a tragic summer hiatus with the loss of Cory Monteith. Today, the Glee season 5, episode 1 title and a rumored song from the episode has been revealed.

According to ONTD, the title of Glee season 5, episode 1 is “Love, Love, Love.” The title is obviously a throw to the Beatles tribute episodes that Ryan Murphy had just recently spoke about a few weeks ago.

Additionally, the same source is claiming that Kitty and Artie will sing the Beatles song “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away.” Most Glee fans are probably unfamiliar with the catalogue of Beatles music as they reached their hey-day in the ’60s and ’70s. Check out the original song below by what many consider the greatest band in history:

More Glee season 5 details will surely emerge over the next couple of weeks as the show finds its way back to production following the loss of Cory Monteith. It was recently revealed that Finn’s character will be written off the show surrounding drug abuse. You can read more about those details here. Lea Michele recently broke her Twitter silence by tweeting about being back at work:

Glee season 5 premieres Thursday, September 26th at 9/8c on Fox.

What are your thoughts about Glee doing Beatles tribute episodes?

  • Marie

How unfamiliar can you be with the Beatles?!

    • Mike

I’ve heard a whopping two songs.

    • Antara Chowdhury

Many young people haven’t heard their music. If my parents had grown up in America in the 60s/70s, then perhaps they would have exposed me to the Beatles, but my parents are immigrants and don’t listen to American or English music. I’ve only heard a few of their songs because I wondered why this band was/is so popular, so I took the initiative to look up their music. Everyone I know has heard of the Beatles, but most people can only name a couple of their songs.

      • Marie

I admittedly wasn’t really exposed to the Beatles until I was 14? But they’re one of the most well-known bands. I find it hard to believe people wouldn’t have heard them somewhere at some point by the time they’re a teenager.

I just don’t like the Beatles so I don’t know any of their songs but their ridiculously popular ones. xD

      • Marie

Fair enough. That’s the most I expect.

    • timmie

Yes! It’s the flipping Beatles! LOL

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

I’m a huge fan but don’t expect 13-21 year olds to be!

      • Marie

Maybe I just live in my 23-year-old bubble. But I’m surprised if most people don’t know the big songs, at least. Maybe I am old. :-p

      • sarahd15

That’s really sad. I’m almost 21, huge fan of them. My 4th grade english teacher played all their songs on repeat non stop the entire year during silent reading time. Probably my biggest influence of them as a kid.

      • ImperfectPepper

I’m 14 and I love the Beatles!! It’s probably because my dad is a fan of them, and he grew up in the 60s/70s.

      • Sarah Tipton

        I’m 20 and I LOOOOOOVE the Beatles! I have since I was 10 :)

    • Andy

Especially considering that “Hello, Goodbye””I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “Blackbird” and “In My Life” were all done on the show (including IWHYH on their concert tour after the second season) I should hope that people watching Glee would have at least heard of the Beatles on the show, if not at any other point in their lives.

    • robownage

I’m willing to bet that most of the show’s fans probably know quite a few of their songs (if only because they’ve been performed on American Idol over and over again), but most likely wouldn’t be able to tell you who sang them.

  • sarahd15

Uh, it doesn’t matter when you were born. Everyone should know the Beatles. Come on guys! Hahaha…

Looking forward to the new direction this show will have to take (no pun intended). Happy that it has a predetermined end too, something to look forward to.

  • M. Gabriela Sosa

I get the feeling you almost wanted to say that Glee fans probably don’t know The Beatles, but to not sound so mean, you went for the age thing. But I agree, it doesn’t matter when you were born -or your other preferences- almost everyone knows The Beatles. And if someone doesn’t, it doesn’t necessarily have to do anything with their age.

    • Marie

Not to mention, Glee has plenty of fans of all ages. And The Beatles is probably the most famous band around. It’s a minority of people who don’t know them.

  • Jace

So Glee are going to ruin The Beatles next.

    • Noelle Braaten

    • mtlss

Nope, the show is going to do a cover of a Beatles song. You absolutely do not have to listen to it if you don’t want to. It will not affect the original in the slightest.

    • timmie

      Girl please. Have a seat.

    • Jade

Sadly yes. I mean honestly Glee still has a few amazing singers but the majority of their voices are just mediocre which means we’ll be getting a lot of low-quality covers.

  • Jay Banks

“Love, love, love” makes me think more of “All You Need is Love” than “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love”…

    • Hagrid’s Coat

They only announced one song title. They may be “All You Need is Love” as well.

  • LotusCalm

I think everyone knows something by the Beatles, even if they don’t know that it’s the Beatles. I mean, All You Need Is Love, Let It Be…

    • sarah

Across the universe is my fav

  • Hagrid’s Coat

I grew up listening to Beatles music more than anything else, so I’m a bit nervous, but also excited to see the Glee tribute episodes. I like hearing that they’re doing at least one less popular song, although I do want to hear some of the big hits as well! I’m wondering if they’re going to just sing Beatles songs or if they’re going to throw in other Beatles Easter eggs throughout the episode in a similar way to how the Across the Universe movie did.

Also, do we know if Finn is going to be in these two episodes? I know they filmed them before Cory Monteith died, but I don’t remember hearing if he was present in the episodes or not.

    • Steph

Cory is not in these episodes. He went into rehab before the end of last season and was written out of the last few epis of S4. They just started filming S5, they were not filmed before he died.

  • Garrett Pletcher

No one should grow up unfamiliar with The Beatles.

  • Corbin Bolies

When I saw the title, I thought Of Monsters and Men. Is that bad?

  • Marie

Ok, but getting more specific, does this mean Kartie is happening? OR do they discover a secret affair between Jake and Ryder, and they’re hiding it? Let me dream, ok?

    • Selena

Kartie is Kurt and Artie. Wildebrams is Kitty and Artie.

  • sarah

I want Rachel to cover : Across The Universe….or Blaine

  • Troublesome pete

“Most Glee fans are probably unfamiliar with the catalogue of Beatles music as they reached their hey-day in the ’60s and ’70s.”

If only I were hipster enough to know bands from before my date of birth :(

  • Cindy

Another spoiler: There will be a Klaine duet! Kurt and Blaine will sing “Got to Get You Into My Life” from the 1966 album, Revolver. :)

    • Selena

      That’s unfortunate.

      • ForeverAGleek

        How is that unfortunate?

        • Jade

It’s a song about doing drugs.

  • awkwardjenny

I absolutely love the Beatles so I’m super excited to hear they’re featuring some of the older stuff too. HELP! Is also an extremely funny and entertaining movie that I think newbies to the Beatle world should all check out during their Beatle-cation. I wonder who Kitty and Artie are “hiding” their love for? Also interested to know how Finn features in the first two eps. Still so so sad for Cory and the entire cast and crew…

The copyright issues (Paul McCartney’s control, and others) with the Beatles’ music is what keeps it from playing as frequently on the air as it used to be. I only grew up in the 80s, but the music used to be on the radio; now, any online radio hardly plays the music due to the expense. I noticed years ago and found it sad to think that the group that made rock ‘n roll popular after Elvis won’t be remembered by future generations unless someone loosens their grip on the rights.

  • Kallah Jean Turner

The Beatles have been my favorite band for a very long time, and I was born in the 90s. I have all two hundred something songs on my iPod and I’m very excited to see what other Beatles classics they will be singing =]

  • Margaretha

I love The Beatles. I know their musics since I was 10 years old. Thanks to my Parents.
And guess what? My 7 years old Niece knows Beatles songs and she loved The Beatles.

  • Bruce

“Today, the Glee season 5, episode 1 title and a rumored song from the episode has been revealed.” These are two things. Two things “have” been revealed not “has” been revealed. Just sayin’.

  • Melanie Stanley

I LOVE THE BEATLES SO MUCH! THANKS GLEE FOR MAKING THIS KIND OF TRIBUTE! MJ and The Beatles tribute are and will be my favorite!

  • nina

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d know about the beatles…!!!

  • flo

“Most Glee fans are probably unfamiliar with the catalogue of Beatles music as they reached their hey-day in the ’60s and ’70s.” HAHAHAHAHA
