Once Upon a Time fans missing Dr. Whale, don’t worry! David Anders has confirmed that his character will be back in season 3.
In the season 2 finale of Once Upon a Time, all the major characters (Emma, Mary Margaret, David, Mr. Gold and Regina) took off for Neverland on Captain Hook’s Jolly Roger.
After Henry was kidnapped by the shadowy Peter Pan creature, the extended Charming family agreed to set aside their differences, and in season 3, they will be working together to save him.
Belle was left behind in Storybrooke to watch over the town until they returned, and the Once Upon a Time showrunners have reassured worried fans that her storyline won’t be forgotten.
It looks like one of the characters who’ll step up and become more central to the Storybrooke plotline might be Dr. Whale, played by David Anders.
The actor has confirmed to The Daily Quirk that, while he won’t appear in the season 3 premiere episode, “I will be back!”
In Once Upon a Time season 3, it was revealed that Whale’s fairytale identity was Dr. Frankenstein.
Whale and Ruby bonded about both being monsters, and some fans were hoping to see that relationship develop in season 3.
Sadly, Meghan Ory has left Once Upon a Time to star in the CBS crime drama Intelligence, limiting her ability to appear on Once Upon a Time.
Once Upon a Time season 3 premieres September 29, airing at 8/7c on ABC. The first episode is titled “The Heart of the Truest Believer,” and is rumoured to be Henry-centric.
