The Veronica Mars Movie executive producer Rob Thomas has announced the return of a bevy of cast members, including Ryan Hansen, Krysten Ritter, Brandon Hillock, Kevin Sheridan, and Jonathan Chesner.
Ryan Hansen played the lovable best friend to Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring), Dick Casabalancas, on Veronica Mars in all three seasons. Hansen has since been seen in 2 Broke Girls, Burning Love, and Thomas’ other beloved series Party Down. Hansen was seen in the original Kickstarter video for The Veronica Mars Movie that announced the project. He filmed an out-of-this-world video to share his excitement to join the project. Are you excited to see what Dick Casablancas is up to after 10 years?
She recently starred in the ABC series Don’t Trust the B—– in Apartment 23 which was cancelled after its first season. She has also appeared on Gilmore Girls, 27 Dresses, Confessions of a Shopaholic, and Breaking Bad. Ritter can next be seen in Big Eyes with Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz as well as Search Party with Alison Brie and T.J. Miller.
Kevin Sheridan played Sean Friedrich on the UPN series. He appeared in three episodes of Veronica Mars and pretended to be of a wealthier status than he was. Sheridan was also seen in the popular series American Dreams and has since appeared on Criminal Minds, The Closer, Rizzoli & Isles, and Hart of Dixie. Sheridan was thankful to the fans in his Kickstarter statement:
“What you all have accomplished so far is mind boggling. Truly a testament to your talents and character. If any of you ever need an organ donated or a bullet to be taken, preferably, in a non vital area — Kevin Sheridan is your man.”
Brandon Hillock played Deputy Sacks through Veronica Mars and was extremely grateful for the opportunity to reprise his role in the Warner Bros. film with some kind words to the fans. “But I can tell you one thing that won’t be different: the ‘stache. Sacks rocked a mustache before it was cool, and he sure as hell ain’t about to give it up now,” he said. Are you excited to see Deputy Sacks 10 years later? Do you think he will be sheriff?
Jonathan Chesner played the always high and happy character of Corny. Since filming Veronica Mars, Chesner has been busy surfing, writing ADHD in HD: Brains Gone Wild! and inventing wheelchair additions. He will return and has shared his amusing audition story for the series:
“Funny story: when I first went to audition for Veronica Mars, I accidentally downloaded the wrong script. So, I showed up ready to blow away the competition… for the role of Wallace Fennel. Apart from not being black and having no idea what the heck was going on – it was the scene where he gets duct taped to a flag pole – I figured I’d be perfect.
Unfortunately, my audition got off to a bad start. Before I even arrived, I spilled Chinese food all over myself, soiling my garments. But maybe that was supposed to happen, because things worked out pretty well, and now here we are.”
Thomas announced the return of the five cast members over the past few days to increase the number of cast members to 16. Kristen Bell, Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Christine Larkin, Francis Capra, Daran Norris, Amanda Noret, Sam Huntington, and Tina Majorino.
Fans of Veronica Mars are still waiting to hear if Teddy Dunn (Duncan Kane), Tessa Thompson (Jackie Cook), Julie Gonzalo (Parker Lee), Ken Marino (Vinnie Van Lowe), Alyson Hannigan (Trina), or Duane Daniels (Principal Van Clemmons) will be returning.
