Super Smash Bros. 4 is the sequel to the highly praised Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was released in 2008.
The Smash Bros. games pit Nintendo characters from all universes against each other in a 2D platforming fighting arena.
Super Smash Bros. 4 will be for both Nintendo’s Wii U and 3DS. The compatibility of the game between the two systems has often been hinted at. Super Smash Bros. 4 marks the first game in the series to have a handheld iteration.
After the addition of Sonic and Solid Snake to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a door for third party characters has been opened into the Nintendo franchise. Popular fan picks range from Cloud of Final Fantasy VII to first party characters such as Ridley from the Metroid series.
‘Super Smash Bros. 4’ footage coming soon!
It is hoped that the footage shown at Monday’s Nintendo Direct online broadcast will show off some of the new characters of the fourth game in the series. Perhaps Nintendo will surprise fans with a big reveal about a new character or mechanic to be introduced in Super Smash Bros. 4.
